Diabetes is becoming more prevalent in our culture today as the United State’s waist line continues to grow. There are many triggers for diabetes whether it be genetics, bad dieting or a combination. Type-two diabetes is rapidly growing because of bad eating habits in a society full of fast food restaurants. A Harvard Medical School study of 124,700 women found a 2 ½ to 3 times higher risk of developing diabetes in those who ate the most inflammation-promoting foods, compared with those whose diets were rich in foods that reduce inflammation. Chronic, low grade inflammation is like a fever in the blood that precedes type-two diabetes. I am going to list a few foods/drinks that are diabetes fighters and diabetes promoters….
Diabetes Promoters:
Sugar-sweetened soft drinks
Diet soft drinks
Refined grains
Processed meats
Diabetes Fighters:
Wine
Coffee
Cruciferous vegetables
Yellow vegetables
